The Commie Ninjas never made another album after 2008's Where Monsters Hide, and the reasons should be clear to anyone who knew us then. But I (Liam), had been writing plenty of music in between the release of that album, and the end of the band.
In 2018 Aiden, Mike and I played a show, and I wanted to do some recording to mark the occasion. We didn't have any of the sessions from the old album, so I couldn't mess with that any further. But there was all that old material.
When the Ninjas dispersed, Aiden was still around for a while, and he tracked a lot of drums during that time as we tried to get new bands together. After a lot of looking through hard drives, I found tracks that fit almost every song that would have been likely to end up on a 2009-2011 Ninjas album.
That is, every song except one I really like called "Sleep In Transit". I had already worked out a guitar arrangement with Phil for that one, but there just isn't a drum track that fits it. So next time Aiden's home for a bit, we'll record it. I haven't told Aiden we're doing that yet. Hi Aiden.
Neither Phil or Gear/Ryan played on this album, but I did my best to capture their bass and guitar styles, as well as replicating my own choices from back then.
You'll never hear another Commie Ninjas album. But this is really, really close.
